New Year's Eve Style Picks
With the last and most social holiday of 2010 coming up, we thought we would highlight our current favorites at Basic. Parker, Fremont, and Halston Heritage never disappoint in the dress department, and this holiday is all about the dress. New Year's Eve, a.k.a. judgment day, is the last time people will see you in 2010. So get shopping. We both know you haven't found a dress yet. Make your evening sparkle with this ultra chic and form fitting Parker One Shoulder Dress, which we love. Add black nylons to keep warm, and for an extra pop of color, try a purple, gold, or green pump. The Fremont Sisley Dress is a great alternative to the little black dress. This floral print, 100% silk dress features bodice details and boning.
Magenta. Ruffles. Halston. What's not to love? Introducing the 100% silk Strapless Ruffle Dress. We love it with black, silver, or gold pumps! So comfortable, you'll probably sleep in it. (We won't judge.) What will you be wearing? Let us know in the comment section. Have a safe and stylish Holiday and stay tuned for more style tips, giveaways, and contests in 2011! Cheers!

How to Tie the Perfect Bow
I sometimes stress over the small things. A while back when I used to work out regularly, my exercise of choice was running. Well... I eventually stopped running because my shoes always came undone. During that break, I learned some tricks of the trade that surprisingly carry over into fashion. Did you know there is a right way to tie a bow, and a wrong way? Whether your wrapping presents or tying a sweater (such as the Twig Clover Tie Cardi), this method will guarantee you straight bows that won't come undone. Step 1: Make a knot with the laces, ribbon, or whatever material you are using. Step 2: Make a loop with one side of fabric. Step 3: This step will make or break your bow. Take the other side of fabric and bring it behind and around the other loop. Make a knot. Once you use this method, you will never go back to your crooked bows. Easy as pie!
