The Investment Pieces

Investing in the stock market? No. Investing in my wardrobe? Yes, please! I love to wear the occasional sparkle or neon t-shirt, but for the most part, I like my classics. Everyone's classics are different, but there are a few pieces I think every lady should own.

A crisp white shirt is a wardrobe staple for many reasons. A white shirt brings elegance and sophistication to any outfit. It can be worn casually, with a pair of jeans, or with a ball gown skirt. Whether you prefer silk, cotton, or stretch; make sure it fits.

Everyone has a "nice" pair of jeans. If you don't, your wardrobe is seriously lacking. My love affair with jeans began long ago when I was in high school. Though I do prefer certain brands to others, just make sure your jeans fit well. Tailoring can do wonders. Since I am just under 5'3", I have to tailor every single pair of jeans. If you do tailor them, ask that they put the original hem back on. You won't be able to tell they were ever near a sewing machine. Also, avoid the "worn/distressed" look. All together.

The little black dress is important because it can be worn many times and in many circumstances. Make sure it is a classic fit, so that it can mesh well with different sweaters, jewelry, shoes, etc. My little black dress has a cut out in the back, but it can be covered up with a sweater, shawl, belt, etc. It's okay to get something a little different, but keep in mind all the potential ways you could wear it, BEFORE you buy.

I love neutrals. But I love color more. Shoes are something that can change the whole tone of an outfit. I went to a wedding this past summer and the bride had blue shoes on. And they were gorgeous! Color is never an enemy in the shoe department, unless they are ugly of course. It doesn't matter what the heel height is; just make sure you're in love!
